Crimestoppers is now offering a reward for information leading to an arrest in the 13 year old case of a woman missing out of Altoona. Court documents indicate that Sherry Leighty was last seen alive on October 1st, 1999. The case went cold for more than a decade, but a new set of eyes may have cracked the case wide open. Corporal Mathew Starr, from the Altoona Police Department, took over in 2012. Through his investigation, police believe Sherry's father-in-law Kenneth Leighty may have killed her and dumped her body on a 150-acre property in Huntingdon County. Police are out there digging up points of interest but say they haven't found any remains yet. Kenneth is in jail on other charges. He has not been charged in Sherry's death.
