UPJ Norovirus
The University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown cancelled all indoor campus activities after several students came forward with a gastro intestinal illness. The Department of Health is calling it a norovirus that is airborne and very contagious. The cold and sick kept the campus of UPJ empty and quiet. On Saturday the University sent an email to students saying several of their classmates had a highly contagious gastro intestinal illness and that all University sponsored indoor events were cancelled for the weekend. Signs were posted all across campus warning the students about the outbreak. Several buildings were closed including the dining hall but healthy students were still able to pick up a meal in the student center while sick students were given information on how to get meals delivered. The University President, Jem Spectar said all of the buildings were being cleaned and sanitized this weekend so that the school could resume classes and activities on Monday.
