Congressman Murtha died at 1:18 Monday, in a Virginia hospital after complications from gallbladder surgery.
His family was at his bedside. Just last week, Murtha became
Pennsylvanias longest serving member of congress. Political analysts
say hes going to be sorely missed across the state.
And from the halls of the white house to his Johnstown office, the loss
of Congressman John Murtha has shaken those who worked closest with
him.
Colonel John Hugya, long time friend and Chief of Staff for the
congressman, shared anecdotes from their days in the service. He says
the news of his dear friend's death isn't hitting him as hard as he'd
thought it would because he has so many years of wonderful memories.
Murthas funeral will be held sometime next week.
