Less than 24 hours now
until the beginning of THON
weekend at Penn State, as
students gear up for the 46
hour dance marathon.
Alumni are planning to unveil a
new piece of art in THONS honor.
The Dance Marathon Alumni Interest Group
helped raise over $50,000 to create a
mosaic mural.
Students and families who
donated got to have their
pictures be a part of the new
10 by 8-foot design.
Several Penn State students
worked today as professional
development school interns for THON.
These PDS interns co-teach with mentors for a
year at elementary and
secondary school in State
College Area School District.
Many expressed their excitement
in participating this year.
"I think that's really
relevant to what we do as
teachers to get them excited
about learning and excited
about doing more than just
learning and going out into
their community and doing more
out there as well."
"You form these relationships
with THON and all of the kids
and the staff at Radio Park, so
being able to form those
relationships and those lasting
networks of support, I think is
such a cool opportunity."
The weekend kicks off
Tomorrow afternoon lasts
through Sunday at the Bryce
Jordan Center.
Participants last year raised
$9 million for the Four
Diamonds Fund at Penn State.
