A Huntington County couple who police say kept their children in cages learned their fate today. Police say the father was a softball and basketball coach in Bedford County for a while. We talked to the defense attorney today. He tells us he believes today led to a fair outcome. Nicholas and Linda Chamberlain entered a plea bargain today for a 6 to 23 month sentence. The couples' attorney said they gave up parental rights to their 7 children and were given a $20 thousand dollar fine. Police say they locked their children in dog cages. Word didn't get out until one of the children escaped and ran to a neighbor's house for help. They had no access to a bathroom, food or water. Now, since this all started over the summer. They have already been in prison for about six months which means they have already served their minimum sentence. But no word on when they will be released.
