Fugitive Caught

Police say a fugitive wanted in West Virginia and Maryland has been found in Altoona. Police were able to track him down to Third Avenue before he was arraigned this afternoon. We were inside the arraignment Michael Burton has multiple outstanding warrants for drug charges and parole violations but marshals have been tracking him after he escaped from West Virginia after serving a sentence there. He told a judge he was on furlough but the correctional center and he left Morgan County West Virginia, traveled to Pennsylvania and has been in Blair County for two weeks. Finding work here and there. The judge called him forthcoming with his story and he stopped the judge to say he does have a drug problem but he does not lie. He said I am pretty messed up with drugs but I think I'm a pretty decent guy. When police found him, court documents say he had items to manufacture meth and is charged with possession, manufacturing and operating a meth lab. The judge said given his criminal history he set his bail today at $175 thousand dollars strait cash. He is now in the Blair County Prison.
