A traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be on display in State College at Penn State's Innovation Park between the 100 and 200 building starting on Thursday. A convoy of motorcycles, police officers ,and veterans escorted the memorial from Bellefonte to State College Wednesday afternoon. The wall is a replica 80 percent the size of the real Vietnam Wall Memorial in Washington D.C., however veterans say the wall honors fallen heroes of the war just the same, The traveling wall is the culmination of WPSU's project to tell more about Pennsylvania's story in the Vietnam War. WPSU has produced a 60 minute documentary titled, A Time to Heal, which is set to air locally on TV in November. A screening of the documentary will also take place at the site Saturday at 7 p.m. In addition a digital archive of personal stories from veterans and their families from all across the state was also published on WPSU's website. Visitors can learn how the wall is organized, what the symbols mean on the wall, and how to locate names on the wall. Above all, organizers said it's a time to pay tribute and honor those who served and died. They said guests are welcome to leave personal mementos and make rubbings of the names. The wall will be open and free to the public starting Thursday at noon, will remain open 24 hours a day until Sunday at 3 p.m.
