A State College doctor accused of improperly prescribing controlled substances to a woman he was having an affair with had his license suspended for more than two years. The Pennsylvania Department of State released the information Thursday. Kenneth Cherry Jr an orthopedic surgeon at University Orthopedics Center in State College had his license temporarily suspended July 10. The 30 month suspension is retroactive to that date. Attorney General Josh Shapiro said in an affidavit in June that Cherry wrote 63 prescriptions on both UOC and Mount Nittany Medical Center prescription papers from November 2014 through May 2016. The prescriptions included Oxycodone Percocet, fentanyl, Adderall Xanax and Ativan. Mary Amendola said Cherry would write her prescriptions without coming to the office according to the affidavit.
