Osceola Mills Shooting

It was an emotional night in Osceola Mills Monday as dozens of community members mourned the loss of 21 year old Victoria Shultz and her mother, 47 year old Beth Shultz. Police say it was a case of domestic violence. The shooter, 26 year old Cody Bush, had a record of abusing and stalking women. Community members told us they never saw it coming, and didn't know what to think when they saw crime tape and police surround a nearby home. "Nobody every expects things like this to happen in a small town, the numbers are a lot higher then you would believe. It's just a shock because it happened here." Jessica Schultz was also in the home at the time of the shooting and was the only survivor. She remains in the hospital receiving critical care. Police say Bush took his own life after leaving the home. Friends and family held a candlelight vigil Monday night to honor Victoria and Beth and to show support for their grieving family. "It's the evil in the world, and that's why the good people in this world need to stick together and support for each other." Words of encouragement and prayer throughout the night ended in dozens of purple balloons released into the night sky. "Purple is the color representing the fight against domestic violence, these people were lifelong residents here and we just want to show them that we are behind them and want to help them through this."
