Centre County Commissioners unveiled their budget plans for next year. The spending plan has good news for county taxpayers. "You can digest this document rather easily, but we recommend citizens take a look at it." The document is the proposed 2018 budget for Centre County government. The good news for taxpayers is front and center. "This proposed budget represents no increasing county real estate taxes for the eighth consecutive year." Eight years without increasing county real estate taxes. It is a rarity these days, especially for county governments feeling the trickle down effect of cuts in state and federal government spending. "We are doing everything we can do to find a economies and do more with less." The proposed $82.4 million dollar budget includes a healthy fund balance of $9.3 million dollars. Some of that may go to capital projects. The renovation of the courthouse building. There is now three weeks for public comment on the spending plan, with final adoption set for December 19th.
