Honda Civic Service 5/10

Centre County has made a name for themselves with fundraising events whether its Penn State's Thon or the recent Centre Gives event, but last month there was a smaller event held at Governor's Park in Bellefonte organized by a 14-year-old. We introduce you to her in this week's Honda Civic Service report. Sabrina Corman organized her first Ethel Beaver Fund 5K last year, when she was just 13 years old. The cause in this case is foster kids. The Ethel Beaver Children's Fund helps pay for little extra things in foster kids lives that many take for granted but can get expensive, such as Prom and yearbooks, after school activities, vacations, and funds to do sporting events. While she obviously got some help from her parents and other adults, she did a lot of the planning for the event herself and even drew the logo. She says it was a lot of work, but it was worth it. Sabrina will present this year's check to the Ethel Beaver Children's Fund later this month. She raised about $2,000 last year.
