Multiple crashes that shut down lanes in both directions of Route 322 Wednesday have reopened. According to police, the crash happened around 7:45 a.m. at the Mount Nittany Expressway, between the College Avenue and Elmwood Street overpasses. Police said a 19 year old driver was traveling west on state Route 322 when she lost control of her Chevrolet Malibu and crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford Focus driven by Bloom, head on. Bloom was pronounced dead at the scene. The 19 year old driver and a 15 year old passenger in Bloom's car were taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center with non life threatening injuries. Police said drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the crash. PennDOT said the roadway was shut down for several hours, but have since reopened. A second wreck also happened in the area a couple of hours later. State College police continue to investigate, and anyone with any information on the crash is asked to call the State College Police Department. The route was shut down for several hour and reopened just after 1 p.m.
