A Pleasant Gap man has been convicted of first-degree murder in the shooting of his uncle. A jury deliberated for less than three hours Friday before finding 37-year-old Ardell Gross guilty on the murder charge. He shot and killed 60-year-old Richard Smalley at close range at Gross' Pleasant Gap home last October. Gross claimed it was manslaughter, a case of self-defense, because Smalley was threatening him. With the verdict, Gross is sentenced to life in prison
