CTC Funding Push

Pennsylvania Schools that offer technical training programs say they are in need of more funding and they are asking State Lawmakers to help. School Directors say if more money was made available, more students could benefit from valuable job training. We hear a lot about job opportunities that employers say they can't fill because those applying don't have the proper expertise or training. The Schools that do this training say many classes are full, but they only have limited money for those classes and that is why those Schools are asking for more State funding. On Thursday, Labor and Education leaders lobbied State Lawmakers for more funding. In some cases only about 10% of their operating budget comes from outside member districts. That leaves a number of School districts responsible for paying approximately 90% of the overall budget to send students to CTCs. The State's Career Technical Schools are asking for a 10 million dollar boost in State funding.
