The investigation into a Penn State K9 officer accused of animal cruelty has been closed. According to state police, an alleged incident of animal cruelty was made against the officer in July 2019. The allegations claimed the officer struck the K9 on the head while holding it by the neck and throwing the K9 to the ground. State police say they interviewed people with knowledge of the incident and consulted with K9 experts. State police also had the K9 examined at a local animal hospital. Troopers say the K9 had no injuries. The investigation was later turned over to the Centre County District Attorney's Office for review. Troopers say in late September, authorities came to the conclusion that there was insufficient evidence to support a conviction for animal cruelty and closed the investigation. The identity of the K9 officer and the K9 were not released.
