A Blair County nonprofit is bringing the holiday spirit children in foster care. The Bair Foundation plans to hold a party for the kids in just a few weeks. They are looking for donations to make it extra special. Marshall Keeley tells us why the holidays can be difficult for foster kids and how you can help. The Bair foundation helps recruit foster parents and placed foster children into those homes in Blair County. Many of those children have difficulty adjusting to those new homes. They said foster children enter an unfarmiliar environment on their own they often struggle with the new expectations and figuring out who they are. The holidays are especially difficult and often trigger foster children. Many find themselves missing their family even more than normal. The Bair Foundations Christmas party hopes to get them the opportunity to form a new tradition. The foundation provides gift cards, clothing and toys the children with the help of donations to the foundation. She says all the kids like receiving gifts that afford them opportunities they would not normally have. "They love getting toys. Something that would be appropriate for them. Our teenagers, you can imagine, they like experience. They want tickets going to a curve game, ice skating or even gift cards to go to McDonalds with their friends. Those are really huge things for foster kids. It is not always something they always get to do. The Bair Foundation Christmas party is December 6th. They will be collecting donations up until the morning of the party. The foundation is always looking for additional foster parents, especially the support those that are teenagers.
