A man convicted of placing several flammable devices on the roof of the Centre County courthouse was sentenced Thursday to serve 10 to 20 years in prison. Authorities charged 49-year-old Dennis Hassinger in November 2018 after he was captured on surveillance video throwing bottles containing flammable liquids onto the roofs of the courthouse and Centre County Sheriff's Office. A jury found Hassinger guilty in September on various arson- and reckless endangerment-related charges. Court documents show Hassinger is facing charges in another firebombing case. According to authorities, a jailhouse cellmate of Hassinger's told them Hassinger talked about all the arson cases and admitted he used homemade Molotov cocktails to torch a sheriff's van in late November 2017 and in trying to set fires on the county buildings. Hassinger is awaiting trial on the second arson case.
