The Brookville police chief says his stepson took part in the abuse of a deer, which was recorded in a video that has gone viral. According to our NBC affiliate WICU, Chief Vince Markle says his stepson Alex Smith, 18, is one of the two teens in the Nov. 30 video that has since surpassed 6,000 shares on Facebook. WICU reports Markle told the city's solicitor that he recognized his stepson right away and that he's sickened by the incident. The Pennsylvania Game Commission took to Facebook Thursday, asking that the public maintain patience as authorities investigate. WICU reports authorities are stressing that no favoritism is being shown in the case. WICU reports the Brookville Police Department is not investigating this incident, instead the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office and the state game commission are handling the investigation. According to WICU, the second teen seen in the video is identified as a 16-year-old. WICU reports both Smith and the other teen attend Brookville High School. Since the surfacing of the video, hundreds of thousands of people have signed a petition demanding charges be brought against the teens.
