Reynoldsville Standoff

State Police in Jefferson County spent most of Sunday morning in Reynoldsville where a man barricaded himself inside a home causing a standoff. Police were on scene at the 100 block of Brown St. in Reynoldsville where neighbors say they heard a knock on the door as early as 6AM from State Police, who told them to stay stationed inside their basements, and not long after they were told to completely evacuate their homes. They were told to leave right after State Police say that 44-year-old Steven Shaffer had barricaded himself inside a home. Police say the eight hour standoff started as an argument between him and other people inside the home with him. Because of the argument, the victims told Police that he shot an AR-15 four times inside the house. The victims stated they took the gun away from him and left. After they left the house, Shaffer barricaded himself inside for hours. After talking with him, he eventually surrendered to Police around 11:20AM Sunday morning. He is being charged with discharging a firearm and reckless endangerment.
