We are over a month away from Easter, but the Easter For Eli Foundation has started their 2020 fundraising efforts. The first event was the basket bingo event and as always, the community responding in a big way. We will check it out in this week's Civic Service Report. "I never dreamed today would be like this." The first annual basket bingo benefiting the Easter for Eli Foundation was held on the ninth and the hall was packed, all of the supporters ready to play for a good cause. "We sold out over 280 tickets in six days. As you can see and hear, it is crazy, and all I say is I hope we make a ton of money for more baskets to touch more kids and put more smiles on children's faces." The money raised will go toward building easter baskets for children in the hospital. The foundation has been doing this since 2015 and every year the goal is raised higher. "Last year, we had a 5000 basket goal. We delivered 9800 baskets to 41 hospitals in 17 states, along with 14 Ronald McDonald houses." This year's goal is 10,000 baskets and more hospitals and Ronald McDonald houses in more states, and an increased international reach. "My goal is one day to have Eli's joy spread nationwide and worldwide. As minimal as one basket in each hospital is all we need." Organizers tell us the event raised $19,000 and to get involved or for more information on upcoming events as well as the basket builds, you can check out their Easter for Eli Facebook page.
