Dubois City authorities are investigating a string of counterfeit bills at local merchandisers.
According to Dubois City Police Chief Blaine Clark, they received two calls from two separate stores of customers using counterfeit money.
The first call this week came in on Tuesday where Chief Clark says the counterfeit $100 bill passed the mark test, but when it went to the bank they realized it was counterfeit.
The same incident happened Yesterday Morning at another merchandiser in Dubois.
Chief Clark suspects that it’s one individual responsible for this fraud
“You get a $100 bill make note of who’s actually trying to render that $100 bill, make a mental note of their description and maybe even their vehicle description to help us.”
