6 More Weeks of Winter

There will be six more weeks of winter, Punxsutawney Phil’s handlers said Tuesday morning after the groundhog saw his shadow.

This is the 105th time the furry prognosticator has seen his shadow, thus forecasting six more weeks of winter weather ahead.

Phil’s celebration looked a bit different Tuesday morning.

Other years would see thousands of people make the trek to Gobblers Knob to hear Phil’s prediction, but much like everything else, COVID-19 has impacted the event.

The spectacle was all virtual Tuesday morning

Viewers could log on and listen to music and learn how to make Wigle Whiskey cocktails and at home crafts.

The tradition originated in Germany where legend has it that if a furry rodent casts its shadow on Feb. 2, there would be more winter. If not, spring’s right around the corner.
