A Mighty Force by Marcia Biederman, Part 2

Author Marcia Biederman joins us to talk about her book A Mighty Force which tells the story of Doctor Elizabeth Hayes and her fight for better drinking water in Force, Elk County during WWII. “Doctor Betty” became a heroine of an environmental drama that captivated the nation.

A Mighty Force is the only book, popular or academic, written about Hayes. Marcia Biederman draws on news reports, interviews, court records, and oral histories to tell the forgotten story of this public health hero.
