Altoona Assault Arrest

Police say an Altoona man is behind bars after assaulting two women and a baby Saturday.

According to a criminal complaint filed by the Altoona Police Department, officers were called to a home on 17th Ave. just before 3 a.m. for a reported domestic.

Police say a woman on scene told them 36-year-old Jeremy Wyatt had attacked her and her baby during an argument.

She said she was lying in bed with her baby when a drunken Wyatt came in yelled at the woman, threw her on the ground and punched her in the face, according to the criminal complaint.

The woman said she tried to leave with her baby, but Wyatt grabbed the baby out of her arms, locked her out of the bedroom and told her he’d kill her if she went in, according to police.

Police say a neighbor tried to help the woman get her baby back, and Wyatt shoved the neighbor into a mirror.

Eventually the woman was able to leave the house with the baby, police say.

Officers noted that both the woman and the baby had visible injuries.

Police say it took four officers to take Wyatt into custody because he was aggressive and refused commands.

They say they eventually had to slam him into the ground.

He’s been charged with simple assault, resisting arrest and endangering the welfare of children.

Wyatt is being held in the Blair County Prison after he couldn’t post bail, court documents show.
