The Big Ten handed out its Yearly Basketball Awards this week. Starting with the Women, Maddie Burke was named the League’s 6th Player of the Year along with being named to the All Freshman Team. Burke averaged 9 points and 3 rebounds per game this Season. She is the 2nd Nittany Lion to Win the Award. Senior Johnasia Cash was named to the 2nd Team Media List. She averaged 14 points and 9 rebounds while adding 10 Double Doubles and Sophomore Makenna Marisa was named to both Honorable Mention Lists. She finished 2021 averaging 13 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds a game.
On the Men’s side, Senior Jamari Wheeler was named to the League’s All-Defensive Team for the 2nd year in a row. Wheeler led the League in steals this Season and Myeron Jones and John Harrar were named to the Honorable Mention Lists. Jones led the Team with 15 points per game, while Harrar averaged a Double Double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
At Saint Francis, Karson Swogger was a 1st Team All-NEC selection. The Senior out of Bellwood averaged 15 points and 4 assists for the Red Flash this Season. Up next, they will take on Wagner in the Conference Semifinals Wednesday night at 7.
