Attempted Murder in Altoona

We have new details regarding what Police are calling an Attempted Murder in Altoona this past weekend. Police say 17-year-old Preston Weakland allegedly fired a handgun at two people at the Sunoco Gas Station on the corner of 17th Street and 7th Avenue on Saturday, though thankfully nobody was hurt.

Authorities say Weakland and 16-year-old Collin Brothers were involved in an altercation Saturday afternoon. Police say the two teens were identified by surveillance video and Brothers has since been taken into custody and placed at the Blair County Prison. His bail was set at $600,000 and both face a number of charges, headlined by Attempted Murder and Aggravated Assault.

Police say Weakland remains at large and should not be approached as he is considered to be Armed and Dangerous. We reached out to Altoona Police and the District Attorneys Office, but given the ongoing nature of the case, neither party offered further comments.

Anyone with information on Weakland’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact Altoona Police.
