A man is filing a federal lawsuit against Bellefonte Borough claiming his First Amendment rights were violated.
A man named Gene Stilp attempted to burn several Pro-Trump flags outside the Centre County Courthouse.
The suit claims he notified county commissioners ahead of time of what he would be doing
Saying he would adhere to the borough’s burn ordinance according to court documents.
On September 25th of of 2020, Stilp said he showed up as planned and prepared to burn the flags in a steel trash can.
Documents show that five law enforcement officers approached him & told him that if he burned the flags, The fire would be immediately put out & that he would be cited.
Documents say Stilp burned the flags anyway & was cited.
His lawsuit aims to prove that the enforcement of the ordinance was unconstitutional.
