Officials say that the gas leak in Bellefonte has been contained and residents can begin returning to their homes.
However, police are asking residents who live closest to the site of the leak to still avoid the area for another 30-minutes as emergency personnel finishes clearing the scene.
Officials have not yet confirmed what caused the gas leak but our crew on scene is working to gather additional information.
Police and first responders are ordering people to evacuate and avoid downtown Bellefonte following a gas leak.
Officials say the leak was reported in the area of West Manchester Lane and South Spring Street, and anyone within a one-mile radius is being told to leave.
Additionally, officials are telling other residents and businesses to take precautions or “shelter in place.”
