Big Ben Officially Retires

It’s the Pittsburgh Steelers news that we all anticipated, but it finally became official today.

An icon and sure fire fired first ballot, Hall of Famer decided to call it a career.

It’s not shocking, but it does certainly mark the end of an era as Today via his official Twitter account.

Ben Roethlisberger did indeed announced his retirement from football after 18 seasons alongside his family. Next up for number seven is Canton in 2027, ever since he was drafted in the first round in 2000 for the
Pittsburgh Steelers.

A Fan base has been spoiled with countless highlights game-winning dives, drives, championships and pretty much everything in between.

Roethlisberger is one of the most transcendent quarterbacks in the history of the NFL. In combination of size, elusiveness in the pocket, the ability to extend plays and a rocket arm, Big Ben truly was one of a kind.

This past season wasn’t one of Ben’s best, but in typical Ben fashion, he was able to will the Black and Gold into the playoffs with a thrilling win over the Baltimore Ravens in overtime and NFL Week 18.

His last TD pass of his illustrious career went to James Washington in the AFC Wild Card matchup in Kansas City. An excerpt from Ben’s two plus minute goodbye released on Twitter.

He said the Steeler Nation the best fans in all of sport. Thank you for accepting and supporting me as your quarterback over the years. Football has been a gift and I thank God for allowing me to play it surrounding me with great people, protecting me to the end with love and honor.
