We now have a state football champ hailing from District six following a thrilling finish to the title. Let’s check it out now today in Hershey.
The Marauders met Redbank Valley out of District nine.
This one was a slow starter and points were at a premium before it got dicey later.
Bishop Guilfoyle took a 7-0 lead into the break the second half. Pretty wild two times Redbank Valley tied up the game both at seven and 14 before Bishop Guilfoyle got the ball back
late in the fourth quarter.
BG punched in a 14 yard score with 3:21 to go and then had to sweat out the final drive
of the game before stopping Redbank on fourth down and Bishop Guilfoyle territory. 2014 the final. Bishop Guilfoyle gets it done. So then we asked the Marauders, How does it feel?
“Well, it just means everything we had a rough couple of last year made it state semifinals.
We lost brothers and just got here with these guys, especially. I grew up with my whole life. We’ve just been the best friends. It’s awesome to see us all come together for one,
the other finals for us this this was a battle.”
“This was to even match teams that were just throwing haymakers and you know, they’d get one, we get one. And it was just great to see it was just a great high school football game.
And and I’m just so proud of our guys and our hats off to Redbank Valley.
They fought and battle until the end, too. So heck of a football game state championship, that’s what it should be about.”
