A judicial security meeting was held Today at Blair County Central Court.
It was closed to the public and held in response to the death of Blair County Corrections Officer Rhonda Russell.
President Judge Elizabeth Doyle said in a statement immediate changes will be implemented.
Moving forward upon entry people coming to court will soon be magnetically wanded.
New signage will be put up directing victims witnesses attorneys and staff to spaces farther away from defendants.
Security at Central Court will be provided by a combination of Pennsylvania State Constables, Blair County Sheriff’s Deputies corrections officers from the Blair County prison and law enforcement assigned to each case.
Judge Doyle said
“Every Blair County elected official I have spoken with the Commissioners and the DA, the Controller, the Sheriff, and numerous others are strong advocates for the safety of the public
and court participants. We are fortunate to have the cooperation of all the offices for the citizens sake.”
