State police say a Blair County woman is behind bars following a near two-and-a-half year investigation into a deadly crash in Antis Township.
Police say on the night of Sept. 18, 2022, now 52-year-old Desiree Peavler is accused of fatally striking a motorcyclist with her vehicle while attempting to turn in front of traffic along East Pleasant Valley Blvd.
According to the affidavit, police say the crash occurred as Peavler was reportedly attempting to turn left, off of Pleasant Valley Blvd., and onto Stadium Drive.
Investigators say Peavler’s vehicle reportedly struck the motorcyclist head-on.
Police say the operator of the motorcycle, identified as 38-year-old Christopher Cowfer, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers say that when they questioned Peavler about the crash, she reportedly stated that remembered being in the middle turn lane and then hearing a “large bang.”
Police say Peavler claimed that she did not remember making the turn.
Investigators noted that, according to multiple witnesses, the motorcyclist was reportedly NOT traveling at a high rate of speed.
Police say the witnesses remembered passing the turning lane and then hearing the impact of the crash.
According to online court records, Peavler was arraigned this week on a variety of charges, including homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and multiple traffic violations.
She is jailed at the Blair County Prison on $100,000 bail.
