A local community is coming together for a mother and daughter in Cambria County who lost everything in a tragic house fire over the weekend.
“We’re talking about years of memories in the house they lost. They lost clothes, they lost TVs, kitchenware, everything. Everything you could possibly think of. It was a total loss for them,” said South Fork Borough police chief Don Wyar.
The mother-daughter duo lived in the house along Cameron Avenue in Beaverdale that has been turned to rubble after an explosion and fire took all of their memories on Friday night.
Authorities say the teenage daughter’s friends were over at the time, but everybody made it out unharmed.
South Fork Borough chief of police Don Wyar knows the family and said he wanted to help.
“I know the communities would pitch in and help out in a time like this. So, I figured, let’s do it and see what happens. So, I sat down and came up with the GoFundMe.”
The GoFundMe is set for a $5,000 goal and has already raised nearly half of that amount.
“This is going to be a big steppingstone for her to start over again.”
