Cambria Mental Health and Self Care Event

Life can be stressful enough – bringing about feelings of anxiety and stress, but adding a Pandemic on top of that can make things worse. Saturday morning, dozens of people throughout Cambria County gathered together on Zoom to learn how to slow down. They were working on ways to improve their Mental Health and practice Self Care, all taught by Local Presenters hosting their very own Virtual Workshops. In a World closed off, they taught people how to free their mind through Meditation, Exercise, Nutrition, Music, and Journaling.

The Cambria County Suicide Prevention Task Force put on this event in-person last year, but Linda Goodwin, a Member of the Task Force said it was needed more this year than ever before, even if that Meditation had to be taught through a computer screen. Teaching less worry and teaching more focus on the things you can control during an uncertain time.

Goodwin saying: “For all these people who are juggling working at home, plus the isolation for caregivers who take care of family and friends. Those kind of issues, we wanted to address. By giving examples of ways people can take control of their life, and take back some power.”
