In observance of Child Passenger Safety Week officials stressed car seat safety today with a personal message from someone who experienced loss first hand.
Lori Rodriguez’s 2 year old daughter Penny was killed in a car crash a year ago along Route 453 in Bigler Township.
Her daughter was a passenger in a relative’s car.
She says her daughter’s cause of death was ruled positional asphyxiation.
“It is unknown if Penny was in a car seat at all But what is One thing that is certain is that the car seat in the vehicle was expired.”
Rodriguez says she’s turned her family’s pain into purpose and dedicated herself to educating people about child safety in cars.
As part of Child Passenger Safety Week state police and the traffic injury prevention project held several car seat checks in our viewing area to make sure car seats are installed properly and safely.
