An update now on the Centre County church that went up in flames this weekend
Our Zac Kaye talked with the Pastor about renovation plans
Chantelle, the Pastor here at the Woodycrest United Methodist Church says they are moving forward with rebuilding what was lost but that it will take several months until they can open again.
Pastor Renee Ford says the church held a meeting on Tuesday Night to discuss the next steps. She says they have begun the restoration efforts on the newer side of the church, which requires a complete demo and rebuild after the fire on Saturday.
She says from what they have been told, it will take somewhere between four and six months.
“We have begun the restoration efforts on the newer side of the church, the upstairs of the newer side of the church is able to be restored with less extensive renovations required, the downstairs of the newer section is requiring a complete renovation.”
Last Sunday, just one day after the fire, the church held an outdoor service for nearly 70 people. Ford says they will continue this for the next two weeks, and then were offered to hold their services in the meeting room of the Patton Township Municipal Building after that.
Ford says that fire inspectors were at the church on Monday but that the cause of the fire is still undetermined.
