Centre County Commissioners voted Today to do a feasibility study on establishing a County Health Department.
The proposal comes with the covid pandemic in mind. That possibly county residents would have better and more direct access to services in times of health related emergencies
instead of relying on the state’s health agencies.
One priority for the study is to review Centre County’s current health assistance resources.
“The regional aspect will help promote whether it best to have a health department for the entire county,or perhaps juts a smaller municipality”
The county will be joined by State College Borough in paying for whats expected to be a 6 month feasibility study.
