According to Bellefonte Borough Police a New York man was arrested in Centre County this week accused of theft and identity fraud.
Police say they were called to a Verizon Wireless store along South Allegheny Street yesterday for a report of suspicious activity.
Investigators say a customer in the store had given the name of Roger Nurse, to store workers but that the name had been flagged in the store’s system as fraudulent.
According to criminal documents the man was then taken into custody and State Police made contact with the real Roger Nurse who told them he had lost his id about 2 years ago.
Police later identified the man as Courtney Lawrence, of Rochester, New York.
Lawrence faces numerous charges including providing false identification to law enforcement and identity theft and is being held at the Centre County prison, on $200,000 bail.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 16.
