Centre County Relief Funding

A number of restaurants and bars statewide wont be going back to full capacity at the end of this month because the pandemic has already forced them to close.

Recovering the revenue lost in the past year has been the focus of various relief programs.

One of the latest looks to be among the most beneficial.

Here in Centre County close to 100 restaurants and business just received covid relief money through a regional program. But this latest effort is federal aid from the recent
stimulus bill passed in congress

The losses in the restaurant and hospitality industry in Pennsylvania have been staggering in the past year.

“Pre-pandemic we had 27.5 billion dollars a year,we employ 586 thousand people, were the second largest employer in the state of Pennsylvania. As of this month,84 percent of our
operators say their sales volume in March was lower than it was last year”

The new Federal covid impact assistance for the industry coming through the restaurant revitalization plan. For those in the business interested in applying for aid-they’re urged to do it quickly, and the application is said to be simple and straight forward.

“If you were a restaurant in business before 2019,you take your 2019 sales and subtract your 202 sales.virtually every restaurant in the county with the exception of maybe 8 of
them, that number is going to be tens or hundreds of thousand of dollars.next you subtract your PPE grants, that number is still going to be very large..potentially thats your
grant”

The feds have earmarked close to 29 billion dollars nationwide for this assistance program
