Duck Donuts in State College as a promotion for September to help local children during childhood cancer awareness month and in this week’s Civic Service Report you can aid them
by just giving your change.
The Duck Donuts Chemo Duck program started four years ago when they teamed up with a mother and her foundation looking for a way to cheer up her child.
“They work with them throughout all of our franchises, and raise money each year during childhood awareness month, to purchase these ducks to take around, and sprinkle a little
happiness to children going through chemotherapy.”
Each duck given to a child cost $50, you can purchase one straight up or roundup and donated to the foundation.
“It’s not taking a huge hit out of your pocket, just give us a little bit of change when you come in to get your coffee and donut, and it will go to bring smiles and happiness to a
child going through cancer treatment.”
The ducks then get delivered as gifts across the country giving kids some comfort and hope.
“To deliver them to the children, that are going through chemo, and, they can see everything and have a little comfort with a stuffed duck, feeling a little brightness during a scary time.”
The State College store has a goal of seven total ducks, they are not quite there yet, which is where you can help
“We are about halfway there. So, you know, every penny, every roundup really makes a difference in getting us to our goal of $350 in the store.”
The promotion ailigns perfectly with what Duck Donuts wants to do nationwide which is satisfy appetites and give back to the community.
“This goes right with our mission of giving back especially in this time, helping others anyway we can and giving back to those who need it”
