22-year-old James McClelland faces multiple charges after authorities say he sexually assaulted a five year old girl in Boggs Township.
According to court documents, the five-year-old victim and her family were staying at a home in Boggs Township, Clearfield County.
Authorities said James McClelland was staying with the victim and her family from February to March of this year.
During this time authorities said when he was babysitting the victim, he sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.
“In Clearfield County we have been seeing a lot more of these child sexual assault cases and that is as we were talking beforehand probably the worst crimes that we are seeing,” said Ryan Sayers, Clearfield County District Attorney.
It is unknown at this time the relationship between McClelland and the victim.
McClelland faces multiple charges including counts of Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and indecent assault.
“With a homicide case the person is deceased and that’s terrible within itself especially for the family but these kind of cases, these children that are sexually abused they have to live with it the rest of their lives,” said Sayers.
McClellan’s preliminary hearing is set for January 20.
