Even though Clearfield County is still in Phase 1A of vaccine distribution, officials said they’re pre-planning for Phase 2.
“We’d like to get three sites in Clearfield County, one north, center and south. DuBois is our north center we’re working on two sites right now that we can get people in and out of,” said Larry Bickel, EMA Director for Sandy Township.
Larry Bickel said these plans are contingent upon when and how many vaccines they’ll receive in the future.
So far they’re looking a few mass vaccination sites including the DuBois Mall and the football stadium.
“All options are on the table. We do have a nice park up here, Spider Lake Recreation Park that we could probably use in good weather,” said Bickel.
As of right now there’s no timetable on when the township will be ready for Phase 2 but he wants to be prepared.
“We’re already complete with all first doses to all personal care homes, our assisted living our skilled nursing. Now we’re working on the second vaccination as we speak,” he said.
Bickel said they’re constantly working with the DOH, PEMA and local agencies on these contingency plans.
