The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 4,882 new Coronavirus cases in the state Saturday, bringing the statewide total to 1,068,974. Health officials say 90% of the state’s total cases are considered to be recovered. State Health Officials also reported 40 more Coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Pennsylvania’s death toll to 25,402. 2,441 people are hospitalized with the Virus across Pennsylvania and and 511 are in the Intensive Care Unit.
Here Locally, 345 new cases and three more deaths were reported in our viewing area. Cambria reported an increase of 135 new cases, Centre reported 79, Blair reported 57, Clearfield reported 34, Huntingdon reported 13. Bedford, Jefferson and Somerset each reported 7 and Elk reported six new cases. No new cases were reported in Cameron County. As for the deaths, Cambria reported two additional while Somerset reported one.
According to the Department of Health, nearly 2,300,000 Pennsylvanians have now been fully vaccinated against the Coronavirus. Out of our 10 County viewing area, Elk County has the highest percentage of Residents vaccinated with 30%, where as Bedford County has the lowest percentage with only 11%. The Department of Health announced last week all Pennsylvanians will be eligible to receive the COVID-19 Vaccine on April 19th.
