COVID-19 Update December 14th

The latest in the race for a COVID-19 Vaccine. Officials confirm more than 97,000 doses of the Pfizer Vaccine have been making their way across the State to Hospitals and Medical Facilities. Healthcare workers at UPMC Pittsburgh being some of the first to receive the Vaccine. As stated before, those being vaccinated first are those with underlying medical conditions and workers treating them, so the Hospital can maintain its workforce. Officials say the Moderna Vaccine will be going to Nursing Facilities for both patients and workers once it rolls out.

The Department of Health reported 7,962 new Coronavirus cases in the State on Monday. 559 Cases were reported in our viewing area, as well as 7 more deaths. Blair County reported 120 new cases, Somerset County reported 119, Cambria County reported 114, Clearfield County reported 50, Centre County reported 49, Huntingdon and Jefferson Counties each reported 34, Bedford County reported 32, Elk County reported 6 and Cameron County reported 1 new case. As for deaths, the Department of Health says 55 more Coronavirus-related deaths were reported in the State. Cambria and Centre Counties each reported 2 deaths. Blair, Clearfield and Somerset Counties each reported 1 additional death.
