COVID-19 Update February 28th

On Sunday, the DOH added 1,945 cases to it’s Statewide totals as Pennsylvania surpassed 930,000 cases since the start of the Pandemic. 90% of those cases are now considered to be recovered. 21 more COVID-19 related deaths were reported by the Commonwealth, bringing the death toll to 24,090. 1,720 people are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 in PA. Of those patients, 374 are in the Intensive Care Unit.

108 new cases were reported in our viewing area. Centre reported an increase of 59 new cases, Blair reported 17, Huntingdon reported 9, Clearfield reported 7, Jefferson reports 5. Somerset reported 5 as well, Elk reported 4, and Bedford reported two new cases. No new cases were reported in Cameron County and Cambria reported three less cases.

There was one death locally on Sunday, it came out of Cambria County. That brings the local death toll to 1,584.
