Deadly Hollsopple Fire

A woman and three pets were killed in an early morning house fire in Somerset County, according to Conemaugh Township Police Chief Vincent Zangaglia.

“There was a female in her early 40s along with 3 dogs that perished in the fire,”

The home is located along the 100 block of Thomas Street in Hollsopple.

According to Somerset County 911 officials, crews were dispatched to the home just before 6:30 Sunday morning.

“Obviously we’re going to be doing the investigation, along with the assistance of the Pennsylvania State Police, the fire marshals, and the forensic service units,” Zangaglia said.

Crews from Jerome, Conemaugh Township, Hooversville, Windber, and Richland Fire Departments were all on scene to assist, as well as Conemaugh Township Police.

Dispatchers also confirmed that the state police fire marshal was called to the scene.

“Hopefully we’ll be able to come up with a more solid cause as the investigation continues,” Zangaglia said.

The identity of the victim has not been released.
