Decker Chapel

Our area is full of hundreds of years of history.  Part of that history sits front and center in St. Mary’s.  You blink driving by, you might miss it.  A man named Michael Decker built a small chapel in the mid 1800s when he settled there and the Knights of Columbus took over restoring the chapel in 1928.  In 1955, it was lit for the first time.  Finally, the chapel was added to the national register of historical places in 1998 by the Elk County historical society.  How the chapel actually came to be and what it means to St. Mary’s is really the unique part of it’s story.
