The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported an increase of 3,987 new coronavirus cases in the state Friday, bringing the statewide total to 888,256 throughout all 67 counties since the beginning of the pandemic.
Eighty-seven percent of the state’s total cases are considered to be recovered.
State health officials also reported 99 more coronavirus-related deaths, bringing Pennsylvania’s death toll to 22,959.
According to the Department of Health’s hospital dashboard, 2,548 people are hospitalized with the virus across Pennsylvania and and 496 are in the Intensive Care Unit.
There have been 67,013 confirmed cases in our 10-county viewing area since the start of the pandemic, according to the Department of Health, and 1,938 deaths.
One-hundred seventy-three new cases and six more deaths were reported in our viewing area.
Centre reported an increase of 40 new cases, Clearfield reported 29, Cambria reported 28, Blair reported 25, Huntingdon reported 20, Somerset reported 12, Elk and Jefferson each reported 7, Bedford reported 4 and Cameron reported one new case.
As for deaths, Cambria reported 2 additional and Bedford, Blair, Jefferson and Somerset each reported one.
According to the Department of Health, 3,744,326 patients have tested negative for the virus.
