The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported an increase of 1,388 new coronavirus cases in the state Monday, bringing the statewide total to 967,598 throughout all 67 counties since the beginning of the pandemic.
Ninety-two percent of the state’s total cases are considered to be recovered.
Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
There have been 63,444 confirmed cases in our 10-county viewing area since the start of the pandemic, according to the Department of Health, and 1,616 deaths.
Fifty-six new cases were reported in our viewing area Monday.
Centre reported 17 more cases Monday, Clearfield reported 16, Huntingdon reported seven, Blair reported five, Jefferson and Elk reported three, Cambria and Somerset reported two and Bedford reported one.
According to the Department of Health, 4,001,528 patients have tested negative for the virus.
