The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported an increase of 3,455 new coronavirus cases in the state Friday, bringing the statewide total to 980,302 throughout all 67 counties since the beginning of the pandemic.
Ninety two percent of the state’s total cases are considered to be recovered and 1,428,867 people have been fully vaccinated.
State health officials also reported 35 more coronavirus related deaths Friday, bringing Pennsylvania’s death toll to 24,741.
According to the Department of Health’s hospital dashboard, 1,548 people are hospitalized with the virus across Pennsylvania and and 317 are in the Intensive Care Unit.
Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.
There have been 64,217 confirmed cases in our 10-county viewing area since the start of the pandemic, according to the Department of Health, and 1,618 deaths.
Two hundred and six new cases were reported in our viewing area Friday along with four more deaths.
Centre reported 84 new cases, Clearfield reported 36, Blair reported 23, Cambria reported 21, Huntingdon reported 20, Jefferson reported eight, and Elk and Somerset each reported seven.
As for deaths, Bedford, Blair, Cambria and Clearfield each reported one more.
According to the Department of Health, 4,036,426 patients have tested negative for the virus.
